From inside the album -
" Pirouette Park is an album of polyrhythms for use in dance classes, modern, contemporary, jazz and world. It blends together Brazilian and African influence with digital technology and is varied in mood, meter, tempo, and style. the music comes out of more than 35 years of working with dance teachers and choreographers, and is a response to requests for a recording which could be used in classes when no accompanist is available. With that in mind, I have composed pieces whose emphasis is primarily on rhythmic drive rather than melodic or harmonic development.

Some of my favorite musicians are on this album. Fred Simpson, as master of West African and Congolese styles: Jeffery Gaeto, music director for various circuses, and inspired composer for aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, and wire walkers: Salt Lake City's first-call drummer Wayne Coons, a waterfall of ideas about rhythm: Scot Laury with his deep love and great feeling for Brizialian percussion: the magical Mandjou Kone from Burkina Faso, an equally beautiful dancer and singer: and jazz legend Art Lande - in a league of his own as a pianist and composer and a gifted collaborator with dancers."

Jon Scoville is currently Music Director of Tandy Beal & Company and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Utah. Accomplished composer and dance accompanist, he has toured world-wide.
