"In the year 1979 I had the good fortune to attend an extended weekend of master classes and workshops at California Institute of the Arts.  I was at this time that I met Joel Hirsch, who was performing at the event.  the time went fast and before I knew it I was home again.  Visual and aural impressions kept swirling through my mind interwoven with my dreams day and night; something kept nagging at me about the CIA.  At some point I needed to spend time there.  In the life-surfing that followed I mysteriously found myself registered and attending by the fall of 1981.  Shortly thereafter I met M.B. Gordy, Jonathan 'Butch' Norton, and the coolest of cats, Jim Snodgrass.  One thing led to another and we ended up playing together, often.  The occasion that most frequently brought us together was dance accompaniment, exclusively 'modern', usually in the Lewitzky tradition.  Nonetheless, many of these sessions left us with smiles and mutual thoughts of doing some sort of recording at some point in time.  The sort of recording we did is here (finally) and the point in time is now.  Jai Guru!"
