John Sprague

John Sprague is an improvisational musician and composer who works extensively in the dance field, including many years with the Five College Dance Dept, Amherst, Mass. He worked at Jacob's Pillow with Paul Taylor II, has accompanied many classes with well-known artists including the Cunningham Co. and Bebe Miller and is a feature of improvisational collaborations around the New England area.

John also facilitates movement workshops, with a concern for interweaving expression and contemplation. His instruments include keyboards, winds, percussion, and voice, blending influences from jazz, rock, and many world music traditions.

As a musical artist, he works improvisationally, seeking to create a feeling of openness and depth, inspiring the creativity of dancers and listeners.
