A brief explanation of the workshop - Musicality And Voice for Dancers:
Discovering and exploring the internal rhythm of ones body through breathe,
vocalising and movement.
Experiencing music from within the body is the quintessential driving force behind movement. A dancer should become 'as one' with their natural elements and influences as too often music remains in the head leaving a dancer moving merely parallel to the rhythm or melody. His workshop explores ways to tap one's internal rhythm and its kinetic integration.
Elements of the workshop include: What is musicality for Dancers: Breath and deep breathing awareness: Pulse and synchronicity of breath to movement: Voice and vocalization and vibrations in the body: rhythm and a set of exercises that combine movement phrases and sound in various time signatures. His CD "a bird in the hand.... two in the bush" is designed to be functional in the class (and a little bit of fun). The CD has tracks that are suitable for warm-up, center, moving across space, jumps and cool down.
